The equations for ellipses are shown below

For horizontal ellipse,

(x - h)^2/a^2 + (y - k)^2/b^2 = 1

For vertical ellipse,

(x - h)^2/b^2 + (y - k)^2/a^2 = 1

where h and k are the x and y coordinates of the center of the ellipse

The value of a is always higher than that of b because a is the distance of the endpoint to the center along the major axis while b is the distance of the endpoint to the center along the minor axis

The given equation is

(x - 1)^2/3^2 + y^2/4^2 = 1

By comparing it with the vertical ellipse equation,this means that

a = 4

b = 3

Also

h = 1

k = 0

The coordinate of the center is (1, 0)

We would look for the graph that has a center is (1, 0) and a and b values of 4 and 3 respectively. The correct option is C
