First, write the equation in the form:

Ax^2+bx + c = 0

6x^2+12=8x

6x^2-8x+12 = 0

Where:

a= 6

b= -8

c= 12

Apply the quadratic formula:

\frac{-b\pm\sqrt[]{b^2-4\cdot a\cdot c}}{2\cdot a}

Replacing

\frac{-(-8)\pm\sqrt[]{(-8)^2-4\cdot6\cdot12}}{2\cdot6}
\frac{8\pm\sqrt[]{64-288}}{12}
\frac{8\pm\sqrt[]{-224}}{12}

\frac{8\pm4\sqrt[]{14}i}{12}
