The brain and spinal cord are protected by three layers of membrane.

The inner layer is a delicate membrane called the Pia mater. The mid-layer is called the arachnoid because it is a web-like structure filled with fluids (cerebrospinal fluid). The outer layer is a thought layer called the dura mater.

So from superficial to deep the order is "dura mater, arachnoid, and pia mater" the statement is TRUE
