Solution:

Given:

  • x + y = 15
  • x/y = 2

Let’s simplify the second equation to find out the value of x.

  • x/y = 2
  • x = 2y

Now, let’s substitute the value of x into the first equation.

  • x + y = 15
  • 2y + y = 15
  • 3y = 15
  • y = 5

Now, let’s substitute the value of y into the simplified second equation.

  • x = 2y
  • x = 2(5)
  • x = 10

Hence, the value of x and y are 5 and 10 respectively.

x + y = 15------(1)

x/y = 2------(2)

y = 15 - x

put this value in eq 2

x/(15-x) = 2

x = 2 (15 - x)

x = 30 - 2x

2x + x = 30

3x = 30

x = 10

y= 15 - x

y = 15 - 10

y = 5
