As we know nucleic acids are biomolecules that store genetic information, either can be DNA or RNA, so if we look carefully at the structure of both we will see that they are formed by subunits, each subunit is composed of a phosphate group a pentose and a nitrogenated base, an all together receive the name of nucleotide, therefore the relationship between nucleic acids and nucleotides, lies in the fact that nucleotides are the building blocks of nucleic acids.
