Solution:

The fornula for determining the Scale factor = Dimension of the new shape ÷ Dimension of the original shape

In the question,

Taking the length into consideration, the scale factor = 8/56 = 1/7

Taking the width into consideration, the scale factor = 6/42 = 1/7

Hence, The scale factor is 1/7
