Keisha is making lemonade. She has a container that has a volume of 550 in³ to store the lemonade. How many gallons of lemonade should she make to completley fill the container?

Recall that one gallon of liquid is equivalent to 231 cubic inches.

Then, since she has a container that allows to store 550 cubic inches os lemonade, in order to fill the container completely she needs to use the following proportionality:

1 gallon is to 231 cubic in ches, the SAME as X gallons is to 550 cubic inches

In math terms this is written as:

1/231 = X / 550

multiply both sides by 550 to isolate X completely

550 / 231 = X

X = 2.38 gallons

This is the amount on gallons that is needed to fill her container.

Now. If she has to make lemonade in units of one gallon at the time, you would need to answer 3 gallons.
