A solid shape in the form of a cube has a volume of 27 cubic inches.

The volume of a cube is derived as the product of all 3 sides, that is,

Volume = L * W * H

Note that the measurement of all sides are the same, which means, L equals W and also equals H. Therefore, the formular can be expressed as

Volume = L * L * L

Volume = L^3

Hence, having been given the volume as 27, the formula now becomes

27 = L^3

Add the cube root sign to both sides of the equation and you now have

3 = L

Therefore the measure of one side is equal to 3 inches.
