The coordinates of the midpoint can be calculated as the average of the coordinates of the endpoints of the segment.

If the endpoints are (2,5) and (4,-7), the midpoint is:

M=((x_1+x_2)/(2),(y_1+y_2)/(2))=((2+4)/(2),(5+(-7))/(2))=((6)/(2),-(2)/(2))=(3,-1)

The midpoint is (3,-1).
