Consider the drawing below

Using pythagorean theorem, it follows


\begin{gathered} x^2=5^2+3^2 \\ x=√(34) \end{gathered}

Hence using trigonometrical ratio it follows:


\cos\theta=-(3)/(√(34))

This is simplified to give:


\cos\theta=-(3√(34))/(34)

Also


\sec\theta=-(√(34))/(3)

Finally it follows:


\cot\theta=(3)/(5)
