The sample mean can be calculated using:

\bar{x}=(\Sigma x)/(n)
=(14.5+16.8+15+16.4+15.9)/(5)
=(78.6)/(5)
=15.72

To find the standard standard deviation S, we will use the formula below:

S=\sqrt[]{\frac{\Sigma(x_i-\bar{x})^2}{n-1}}
=\sqrt[]{((14.5-15.72)^2+(16.8-15.72)^2+(15-15.72)^2+(16.4-15.72)^2+(15.9-15.72)^2)/(5-1)}
=\sqrt[]{((-1.22)^2+1.08^2+(-0.72)^2+0.68^2+0.18^2)/(4)}
=\sqrt[]{(1.4884+1.1664+0.5184+0.4624+0.00324)/(4)}
=\sqrt[]{(3.668)/(4)}
=\sqrt[]{0.917}
\approx0.9576
