According to the information given in the exercise, you know that the 100% is 80.

Let be "x" the number that is the 53% of 80.

By definition, you can write 53% as a Decimal number by dividing it by 100. Then, this is:

(53)/(100)=0.53

You can write 100% as a Decimal number:

(100)/(100)=1

Knowing the above, you can set up the following proportion:

(80)/(1)=(x)/(0.53)

Now you must solve for "x":

\begin{gathered} (0.53)(80)=x \\ x=42.4 \end{gathered}

The answer is:

42.4
