Given y=x+3 and y=2x+4.

Substitute y=2x+4 in y=x+3.


\begin{gathered} y=x+3 \\ 2x+4=x+3 \\ 2x-x=3-4 \\ x=-1 \end{gathered}

Put -1 for x in y=2x+4.Hence,


\begin{gathered} y=2x+4 \\ y=2*(-1)+4 \\ y=-2+4 \\ y=2 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the value of x is -1 and the value of y is 2.
