So we need to solve the following equation:

3x-5=10

Since it's an equation we can perform the same operation at both sides for example adding 5:

\begin{gathered} 3x-5=10 \\ 3x-5+5=10+5 \\ 3x=15 \end{gathered}

And we can divide each side by 3:

\begin{gathered} 3x=15 \\ (3x)/(3)=(15)/(3) \\ x=5 \end{gathered}

So the solution is x=5.
