A bee flies at 9 feet per second directly to a flowerbed from its hive. The bee stays at the flowerbed for 19 minutes, and then flies directly back to the five at 6 feetper second. It is away from the hive for a total of 23 minutesWhat equation can you use to find the distance of the flowerbed from the hive?

hello

to solve this question, we need to work with every intricate details provided

data

distance between flower bed and hive = x

time for the bee to reach the flower bed = x/9 s

note: this is gotten from the formula

velocity = distance / time, so time = speed / velocity

time for bee to reach the flower bed = x / 9 s

time for beed to return to the hive = x / 6 s

the bee spent 19 mins = (19 * 60)s = 1140s

total time the bee spent to and fro = 23 mins (23 * 60) = 1380s

equation for total time =

\begin{gathered} \text{equation for total time spent is} \\ (x)/(9)+1140+(x)/(6)=1380 \end{gathered}

i.e to say to find the total time, we need to add the time the bee spent to go, wait and gone back to it's hive

b

to solve for the distance of the flowerbed from the hive, simply solve for x

to do that, try to eliminate the fractions and make the whole equation into a whole number or simply find the LCM
