Now, first we have to notice there has been a decrease:


45-34=11

In this case, a 11 mile decrease. Now, we can use a rule of three to calculate the percentage of those 11 miles relative to the original 45 miles run, as following:

This way,


x=(11\cdot100)/(45)\Rightarrow x=24.44

We can say that there was a 24.44% decrease
