5x-y=-3

Solve for y:

Multiply both sides by -1:


\begin{gathered} -1(5x-y)=-1(-3) \\ y-5x=3 \end{gathered}

Add 5x to both sides:


\begin{gathered} y-5x+5x=3+5x \\ y=5x+3 \end{gathered}
