The triangle shape

total length = 14 + 14 + 14 = 42 inches

The rectangle shape

perimeter = 42 inches

length = 13 inches

Therefore,

\begin{gathered} \text{perimeter of a rectangle=2(l+w)} \\ \text{perimeter of a rectangle}=2(13+w) \\ 42=26+2w \\ 42-26=2w \\ 2w=16 \\ w=(16)/(2) \\ w=8\text{ inches} \end{gathered}

width = 8 inches

A wire is first bent into the shape of a triangle. each side of the triangle is 14 inches-example-1
