Answer:

The amount of added sugar in coca-cola is 16.5 tsp

The amount of added sugar in pepsi is 17.5 tsp

Explanations:

Since the combination of 20 fl oz of Coca Cola and 20 fl oz of Pepsi contain 34 tsp of added sugar.

Let c represents the quantity of sugar in 20 fl of coca-cola

Let p represents the quantity of sugar in 20 fl oz of Pepsi

The addition of both quantities equal 34 tsp

Mathematically,

c + p = 34...............(1)

The coca-cola contains 1 tsp less of added sugar than the pepsi:

Expressing this mathematically,

c = p - 1.................(2)

Substitute equation (2) into equation (1)

p - 1 + p = 34

2p = 34 + 1

2p = 35

p = 35/2

p = 17.5

Substitute the value of p into equation (2):

c = p - 1

c = 17.5 - 1

c = 16.5

The amount of added sugar in coca-cola is 16.5 tsp

The amount of added sugar in pepsi is 17.5 tsp
