Given

$3.15 for 300 index cards,

$1.35 for 50 index cards.

To find the unit rate of each index card and to determine the better buy.

Now,

A) It is given that,

The cost of 300 index cards is $3.15.

Therefore, the cost of 1 index card is,

\begin{gathered} \text{Cost of 1 index card}=(3.15)/(300) \\ =0.0105 \\ =0.01 \end{gathered}

Hence, the cost of 1 index card is $0.01.

B) It is given that,

The cost of 50 index card is $1.35.

Therefore, the cost of 1 index card is,

\begin{gathered} \text{Cost of 1 index card}=(1.35)/(50) \\ =0.027 \\ =0.03 \end{gathered}

Hence, the cost of 1 index card is $0.03.

Since 0.01<0.03.

Then, $3.15 for 300 index cards is the better buy.
