To find x, we will use pythagoras.

In the right-hand triangle, we will name the dotted line y.


\begin{gathered} y^2+8^2\text{ = 9}^2 \\ y\text{ = }\sqrt[]{17} \end{gathered}

In the second triangle,


\begin{gathered} x^2\text{ + y}^2\text{ =6}^2 \\ x\text{ = }\sqrt[]{19} \\ \approx4.4 \end{gathered}
