The analysis of a data set from a small sample produces a line of best fit with equation y = ax + b where a = 10.5 and b = 0.1. A larger sample was collected from the same population and produces a line of best fit with equationy = ax + b where a = 10.5 and b = 1.4. Identify the vertical change in going from the small data set to the largerone.A)a vertical change of up 10.5 unitsB)a vertical change of up 0.1 unitsC)a vertical change of up 1.3 unitsD)a vertical change of down 1.3 unitsE)no vertical change

Looking at the slope of both equations, we can see that they have the same slope, so they are parallel. Then, in order to find the vertical change from one line to the other, we just need to compare the y-intercept values.

The line from the smaller sample has b = 0.1, and the line from the larger sample has b = 1.4.

Therefore, the vertical change is just the difference of the values of b:

1.4-0.1=1.3

So the vertical change is 1.3 units up, therefore the answer is the option C.
