In computing a scale factor to another, we use this equation,

\text{Scale Factor = }\frac{New\text{ Drawing Scale}}{First\text{ Drawing Scale}}

For example,

If the first scale drawing is 3/4 and the new scale drawing is 9, then we compute the Scale factor by,

\text{ Scale Factor = }(9)/((3)/(4))\text{ = (9)(}(4)/(3))\text{ = }(36)/(3)\text{ = 12}

The scale factor of our example problem is 12.

Use this process as a reference whenever you encounter a question like this.
