To find the slope of the line that contains (-3,-4) and (5,-2).

The slope of the line passing through the points

(x_1,y_1),(x_2,y_2)

is

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

Now, let

\begin{gathered} (x_1,y_1)=(-3,-4) \\ (x_2,y_2)=(5,-2) \end{gathered}

Then,

\begin{gathered} m=(-2+4)/(5+3) \\ =(2)/(8) \\ =(1)/(4) \end{gathered}

Hence, the slope of the line is 1/4.
