4x+3y=12

Solve for y means to make y alone on the left side

so, subtract 4x from both sides

so,


\begin{gathered} -4x+4x+3y=12-4x \\ 3y=12-4x \end{gathered}

Now, divide both sides by 3

So,


\begin{gathered} (3y)/(3)=(12-4x)/(3) \\ \\ y=-(4)/(3)x+4 \end{gathered}
