CorrecThe resistance, R of a wire varies directly as its length and inversely as the square of its diameter. If the resistance of a wire 1100 ft long with a diameter of 0.32 inchesIs 16019 ohms, what is the resistance of 3400 ft of the same type of wire with a diameter of 0.18 inches? (Leave k infraction form or round to at least 3 decimalplaces. Round off your final answer to the nearest hundredth.)

R = k L/ d^2

Where:

R= resistance

L= lenght

d = diameter

For:

L= 1100 ft

d = 0.32 in = 0.32/12 = 0.0267 ft

R= 16019 ohm

Replacing:

16019 = k ( 1100 / 0.0267^2 )

k = 0.01035

For:

L = 3400 ft

D = 0.18

R = 0.01035 ( 3400 / (0.18/12)^2 ) = 156,400 ohms

Answer: 156,400 ohms
