Inverse functions:

If f takes a to b, the inverse f^-1 takes b to a

Function: y in function of x

Inverse: x in function of y

Then, if the function f(x) computes the cost of a rental car after x days of use, the inverse f^-1(x) computes the days rented for x dollars.
