let the number of hot dogs sold = x

let the number of sodas sold = 3x

Step 2

Write an equation for the total numbers of both sodas and hot dogs sold.

x + 3x = 200

4 x = 200

x = 200/4

x = 50

Therefore,

number pf sodas or stockholders = 3 x 50 = 150

number of hot dogs = x = 50
