adding the two equations, we have:


\begin{gathered} 2x+(1)/(2)y=7 \\ 6x-(1)/(2)y=5 \\ \text{solution is: } \\ 8x=12\text{ then,} \\ x=(12)/(8) \\ x=(3)/(2) \end{gathered}

we find y, by replacing the value of x in either equation
