A science class has to maintain a ratio of boys to girls 2 to 3how many boys and girls would be in a class of 125 students

The ratio is,


b\colon g=2\colon3

This means that , the boys and the girls constitute a fraction of


\begin{gathered} b=(2)/(5) \\ g=(3)/(5) \end{gathered}

of the total number. The total number of students is 125. Therefore, we have,


\begin{gathered} b=(2)/(5)*125=50 \\ g=(3)/(5)*125=75 \end{gathered}

Thus, there are 50 boys and 75 girls.
