The population of a town in 1920 was 3700 people. The town's population decreased linearly, and in 1928 the population was3420. Find a formula for P, the town's population, in terms of t, the number of years since 1920.P(t) =

We have to find a liner equation

t P

1920 3700

1928 3420

Then we need to find the slope

m=(3420-3700)/(1928-1920)
m=(-280)/(8)=-35

Then we need to find the equation

P-P_1=m(t-t_1_{})
P-3700=-35(t-1920)

The equation is

P(t)=-35t+70900
