How many pieces of Halloween candy can i expect to accumulate? Use dimension analysis to solve this. All candy is handed out as packaged pieces. Halloween hours are 3pm-8pm. Each house hands out 2 pieces of candy. I will be trick or treating in my neighborhood and it takes about 2 minutes to get from one house to the next. This time it takes for ringing the doorbell receiving the candy and running to the next house. The conversion factor is

you get 2 candies per house, and you visit a new house every 2 minutes. You have 5 hours to ask for candies, so you should visit


5\text{hours }\cdot\frac{60\text{ minutes}}{1\text{ hour}}\cdot\frac{1\text{house}}{2\text{ min}}=150\text{ houses}

therefore, if you get 2 candies per house, you expect to get


150\text{houses}\cdot\frac{2\text{candies}}{1\text{house}}=300\text{ candies}
