ratio = 2:6 = chocolate chip: sugar cookie

For 12 chocolate chip cookies:

2/6 =12/x

Where x is the number of sugar cookies :

Solve for x:

x = 12/(2/6)

x= 36

So, for 12 chocolate chip cookies, there are 36 sugar cookies.

Add both:

12+36 = 48 cookies on the platter
