In order to calculate the net force, use the Newton second law:


F=m\cdot a

where,

m: mass = 1400 kg

a: acceleration = 3.6 m/s^2

Replace the previous values of the parameters into the formula for F:


F=(1400kg)((3.6m)/(s^2))=5040N

Hence, the net force applied by the engine is 5040N
