Max is paid a salary of $225 a week plus 2.5% commission on his total sales. Write an equation for P, Max's pay for one week, in terms of T, his weekly total sales. Use this equation to determine his total pay for a week in which his total sales are $4,650.

Since Max is paid 2.5% of his total sales T, then his total earnings are (2.5/100) times T plus his weekly salary:

P=225+(2.5)/(100)T

The fraction 2.5/100 is equivalent to 1/40. Rewrite P using propper fractions:

P=225+(1)/(40)T

His total pay for a week with a total sales of $4,650, is:

\begin{gathered} P=225+(1)/(40)(4650) \\ =225+116.25 \\ =341.25 \end{gathered}

Therefore, Max is paid a total of $341.25 for a week in which his total sales are $4,650.
