1.) Substitute the variables in for q=3 and r=10:

7+(3)((10)-8)•2

2.) Follow PEMDAS (Order of Operations) to evaluate the expression.

7+3(2)•2

• In PEMDAS, simplify parenthesis first, so 10-8 was in parentheses which is equal to 2.

7+6•2 = 7+12

• In PEMDAS, Multiplication and Division is equal, so work left to right to whatever comes first. Multiplication came first and we worked left to right.

7+12 = 19.

After multiplication and division comes addition and subtraction which are also equal, so we also work left to right. We only have addition in this expression, so 7+12 = 19.

19 is your answer.
