The reason why HIV is so diffucult to treat is because it is a virus (C).

HIV virus expands (multiplies itself) by using the bodie's inmmune system. The more the immune system tries to fight the virus the more the virus replicates.

Also HIV virus has a very high turnover making billions of copies each day and easily developes a drug resistance.
