The total length of the pipe is

=12ft

The length of each section is

=(2)/(15)ft

Let the number of sections be represented as

=x

Step 1:The number of sections can be calculated using the formula below

\text{each length of section = }\frac{\text{total length}}{\text{Number of section}}

By substituting the values, we will have

\begin{gathered} \text{each length of section = }\frac{\text{total length}}{\text{Number of section}} \\ (2)/(15)=(12)/(x) \end{gathered}

Step 2: Cross multiply

\begin{gathered} (2)/(15)=(12)/(x) \\ 2* x=15*12 \\ 2x=180 \end{gathered}

Step 3: Divide both sides by 2

\begin{gathered} 2x=180 \\ (2x)/(2)=(180)/(2) \\ x=90\text{ } \end{gathered}

Therefore,

The number of sections he will be able to cut from the pipe = 90
