Given:

Amy paid $60 pair of 1 pair shorts and 2 T-shirts

Simon paid $75 for 1 pair of shorts and 3 T-shirts

Find-:

Cost of 1 pair of shorts

Explanation-:

Let 1 pair short cost is "x"

and 1 T-shirts cost is "y"

Amy paid:

Amy paid $60 pair of 1 pair shorts and 2 T-shirts

The cost of 1 pair shorts is:

\begin{gathered} 1\text{ Pair cost }=x \\ \\ 2\text{ T-shirt cost}=2* y \\ \\ 2\text{ T-shirt cost}=2y \end{gathered}

So,

x+2y=60.............(1)

For Simon

\begin{gathered} 1\text{ pair shorts = }^x \\ \\ 3\text{ T-shirt cost =}3y\text{ } \end{gathered}

So,

x+3y=75...........(2)

Solve both equation is:

eq(2) - eq(1)

Then,

\begin{gathered} (x+3y)-(x+2y)=75-60 \\ \\ x+3y-x-2y=75-60 \\ \\ y=15 \end{gathered}

So cost of 1 T-shirt is $15

For cost 1 pair short is:

\begin{gathered} x+2y=60 \\ \\ x+2(15)=60 \\ \\ x+30=60 \\ \\ x=60-30 \\ \\ x=30 \end{gathered}

So,

The cost of 1 pair of shorts is $30.
