A monomial is an algebraic expression which has only 1 term, and it consists of a variable, a power and a coefficient.

For example, a monomial whose variable is x, whose power is 2 and whose coefficient is 3 is:

3x^2

Evaluate the above expression for the natural numbers less than 4. The natural numbers less than 4 are 1, 2 and 3. Replace x=1, x=2 and x=3 to find the value of the expression:

\begin{gathered} x=1 \\ \\ \Rightarrow\quad3x^2=3(1)^2=3(1)=3 \\ \\ \\ x=2 \\ \\ \Rightarrow\quad3x^2=3(2)^2=3(4)=12 \\ \\ \\ x=3 \\ \\ \Rightarrow\quad3x^2=3(3)^2=3(9)=27 \end{gathered}
