The information is represented diagrammatically as;

Let the distance between point A and point B be h; and the distance between point D and point C be x;

Using pythagoras theorem;


\begin{gathered} |AB|^2=|AD|^2+|BD|^2 \\ h^2=110^2+60^2 \\ h=125.3ft \end{gathered}

Using similar triangles;


\begin{gathered} (123.3)/(60+x)=(60)/(125.3) \\ 15700=3600+60x \\ 60x=12100 \\ x=201.7 \end{gathered}

The distance from the beach tree to the cherry tree is;


\begin{gathered} x+60=201.7+60 \\ x+60=261.7 \\ |BC|\approx262ft \end{gathered}
