ANSWER :

x = 13

EXPLANATION :

Note that if two polygons are similar, the ratio of their corresponding sides is equal.

x - 3 corresponds to 2.5

and 8 corresponds to 2

So that will be :


\begin{gathered} (x-3)/(2.5)=(8)/(2) \\ \text{ Cross multiply :} \\ 2(x-3)=2.5(8) \\ 2x-6=20 \\ 2x=20+6 \\ 2x=26 \\ x=(26)/(2)=13 \end{gathered}
