-(2)/(9)-(-1)

this can be rewritten like so

-(2)/(9)+1

start by remembering how to substract or add fractions.

(a)/(b)\pm(b)/(c)=(ac\pm bd)/(bc)

now apply the formula on your fraction

\begin{gathered} -(2)/(9)+(1)/(1)=((-2\cdot1)+(9\cdot1))/((9\cdot1)) \\ -(2)/(9)+(1)/(1)=(-2+9)/(9) \\ -(2)/(9)+(1)/(1)=(7)/(9) \end{gathered}
