Debra, Jim, and Charlie sent a total of 132 text messages over their cellphones during the weekend. Charlie sent 7 fewer messages than Debra.Jim sent 3 times as many messages as Charlie. How many messages didthey each send?

SOLUTION:

Charlie's number of messages = x.

Debra's messages = x + 7

Jim's messages = 3x

Therefore;


\begin{gathered} 3x+x+7+x=132 \\ 5x+7=132 \\ 5x=125 \\ x=25 \end{gathered}

Thus;

Charlie's messages = 25

Debra's messages = 32

Jim's messages = 75
