The median of a trapezoid is given by the formula

$\frac{\text{length of first base + length of the other base}}{2}$

Hence,

$\begin{gathered} 24\text{ = }\frac{2x-5\text{ +}4x\text{ + 5}}{2} \\ 24=(2x+4x-5+5)/(2) \\ 24=(6x)/(2) \\ 6x=48 \\ x=(48)/(6) \\ x=8 \end{gathered}$
