When Lillian emptied her wallet, she had 14 coins, all quarters, dimes, and nickels. She had twice as many dimes as quarters and twice as many nickels as dimes. All together, the value of the coins was $1.30. How many quarters did she have? How many dimes? How many nickels?

Answer:

14 coins = 1.30

Explanation:

2x dimes than quarters

2x nickles as dimes

2 quarters - .50

2x2 - 4 dimes = .40

4x2 - 8 nickles - .40

.40 + .40 = .80

.80 + .50 = 1.30

2 quarters + 4 dimes + 8 nickles = 14 coins
