Let us find each area of the flag using the next formula:

A=(base\ast height)/(2)

For the flag on the left:

\begin{gathered} A=(18in\ast12in)/(2) \\ A=(216in^2)/(2) \\ A=108in^2 \end{gathered}

For the flag on the right:

\begin{gathered} A=(36in\ast18in)/(2) \\ A=(648in^2)/(2) \\ A=324in^2 \end{gathered}

Then, 108 in²*3 = 324in²

Hence, the area of the flag on the right is greater 3 times than the area of the flag on the left.
