Given the points ( -2 , -5 ) , ( 4 , -1)

The slope = The rise/the run

The rise = the difference of y - coordinates = -1 - (-5) = -1 + 5 = 4

The run = the difference of x - coordinates = 4 - ( -2 ) = 4 + 2 = 6

So, the slope =

m=(rise)/(run)=(4)/(6)=(2)/(3)

The perpendicular slope = m'

m^(\prime)=(-1)/(m)=-(3)/(2)
