At a fabric store, fabrics are sold by the yard. A dressmakerspent $36.35 on 4.25 yards of silk and cotton fabrics for adress. Vestuary prices are represented by two equations

Silk have higher price than cotton, obviously

Since x is related to higher price 16.90 , then it represents

number of Silk yards buyed.

And since y is related to lower price $4 , then it represents number of cotton yards acquired.
