we can apply the sine function on the angle to get the following:

\sin (45)=\frac{\text{opposite side}}{hypotenuse}=(x)/(5)

solving for 'x', we get the following:

\begin{gathered} (x)/(5)=\sin (45) \\ \Rightarrow x=5\cdot\sin (45)=5\cdot\frac{1}{\sqrt[]{2}}=\frac{5}{\sqrt[]{2}} \\ x=\frac{5}{\sqrt[]{2}} \end{gathered}

therefore , x = 5/sqrt(2)
